Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking an experienced FPGA/RTL engineer to help build our state-of-the-art optical communication system.

You will own HDL for optical-link interfaces and high-speed data pipelines, working closely with the hardware and software teams to meet live flight milestones. Responsibilities include SystemVerilog/Verilog HDL design, AXI interfaces to flight software, timing closure, and board bring-up for multi-Gigabit data paths.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years FPGA/HDL design experience.
• Proficiency in SystemVerilog/Verilog for production development.
• Experience with Xilinx/AMD FPGA toolchains.
• Hardware bring-up and lab debugging experience.
• Familiarity with radiation-tolerance and fault-tolerant design in space applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify HDL/RTL in SystemVerilog/Verilog for the FPGA subsystems of the optical communication system.
• Partner with the optical team to design FPGA logic for free-space optical links, including modem interfacing and framing.
• Develop high-throughput data pipelines and MAC/PCS logic for multi-gigabit links.
• Build memory-mapped AXI interfaces between FPGA logic and flight software.
• Own timing closure, synthesis, and implementation across Zynq UltraScale+ and Versal targets.
• Develop testbenches and run validation on bench equipment and in simulation.
