Job description

We have an outstanding Contract position for an FPGA/Firmware Design Engineer to join a leading company located in the San Diego, CA surrounding area.

Pay Rate: $120.48

Note: US Citizenship is required and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team to implement and integrate FPGA designs and sensor systems.
  2. Analyze, design, simulate, and implement algorithms in HDL (VHDL, Verilog) based on MATLAB models.
  3. Create HDL test benches for code validation and model comparison.
  4. Review schematic diagrams involving high-speed digital and analog circuitry in FPGA-centric systems.
  5. Conduct tests on FPGA and SoC evaluation boards, evaluate results, and develop specifications for future components.
  6. Address diverse technical problems, determine methods, and provide feedback to team members.
  7. Develop and support project test plans, procedures, and execute lab and field tests.
  8. Maintain requirements, functional specifications, and interface control documents.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 8-12 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with FPGA system design and testing.
  • Embedded Software/Firmware development experience.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of high-speed serial communication standards (e.g., Aurora, 10Ge, PCIe, DDR4/3/2/1, JESD204B).
  • Experience with SVN and Git version control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debugging methods.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to maintain a Final DoD Secret Clearance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Xilinx FPGA families and tools (7-series, Ultrascale+, Vivado, Xilinx IP cores).
  • Experience with Zynq and Zynq Ultrascale+ SoC designs.
  • Development of FPGA-optimized DSP algorithms.
  • Experience with internal interfaces like AXI4, AXI4-Stream, and AXI4-Lite.
  • Experience with embedded OS such as Green Hills RTOS.
