Job summary

Owen Daniels in Chicago, IL is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join a team working on low-latency FPGA designs tied to proprietary trading and finance. The role requires a strong understanding of software and hardware interaction and the full development lifecycle.

Full lifecycle duties include system and block level testing, RTL design, verification, timing analysis, bring-up and validation. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and 5–10+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• 5-10+ years industry experience
• Proficient in FPGA simulation and synthesis tools
• Familiarity with ModelSim, QuestaSim, Vivado, Quartus
• Networking interfaces – SPI, I2C, USB, UART, Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, MIPI, SerDes
• Embedded C, C++, Python, Linux Bash TCL – Bonus
• Schematic capture and PCB design and debug
• FPGA development lifecycle across RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing analysis, and bring up/validation
• Experience in low-latency financial markets or trading environments
• Strong problem-solving skills, communication and teamwork

The annual salary on offer for the successful FPGA Engineer is $150,000 - $265,000 per annum.

Summary of the Senior FPGA Design Engineering Role:

The successful FPGA Engineer will be responsible for the full development of lifecycle, including system and block level testing, of low latency high throughput FPGA design.

• Education – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5-10+ years industry experience
• Proficient in the use of FPGA simulation and synthesis tools
• Familiarity with FPGA simulation tools - ModelSim, QuestaSim, Vivado, Quartus
• Network interfaces – SPI, I2C, USB, UART, RS232/485, Ethernet, TCP/IP, DDR4, PCIe, MIPI, SerDes, Gb transceivers, MACs, and PHYs
• Experience of Embedded C, C++, Python, Linux Bash Scripting, TCL – Bonus
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design and debug
• Technical expertise in FPGA development across the full lifecycle from RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing analysis, and bring up/validation
• Experience in low-latency, performance-sensitive, financial markets or trading environments
• Strong problem-solving skills, innovative, communication and team-work skills
