Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Houston, TX seeks a Digital Design Engineer (Project Engineer- General IC Design) to drive FPGA/ASIC designs for mission-critical space systems. You will model, simulate, verify, and test digital electronics, boards, and subsystems with a focus on reliability for civil, commercial, and national space programs.

On-site work at Johnson Space Center is required; leadership and cross-team collaboration are essential as you mentor staff and deliver rigorous engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in engineering/scientific roles related to digital and microelectronic hardware.
• Experience in FPGA/ASIC design using VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog and CAD tools.
• Experience in high-speed PCB designs including schematic capture, routing, and layout.
• Hands-on troubleshooting with lab equipment and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and verify FPGA/ASIC and related boards and systems.
• Perform IV&V of contractor designs to ensure requirements.
• Develop software/scripts, firmware, and test equipment for hardware testing.
• Provide on-site support at contractor facilities for reviews and testing.
• Lead or work independently across design, manufacturing, test, and integration teams.
• Conduct risk assessments and resolve anomalies in digital/mixed-signal electronics.
• Prepare technical reports and brief stakeholders; mentor staff and interns.
