Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Contract Financial Partner to serve as the primary business partner for clinical outsourcing spend across development programs. This role leads accruals, vendor invoicing, forecasting, and long-range budgeting in collaboration with FP&A, Contracts & Outsourcing, and Accounting teams.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Life Sciences or related field, with advanced Excel skills and strong cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
• Experience partnering with FP&A, Accounting, and Finance organizations.
• Deep knowledge of outsourced clinical trial operations and vendor management.
• Advanced Excel forecasting and scenario analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Own clinical trial accruals across development programs.
• Review, reconcile, and approve vendor invoices.
• Validate invoiced work against contracted scope and services performed.
• Partner on monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Develop and maintain accrual methodologies.
• Forecast program spend and analyze budget variances.

• Support portfolio planning and scenario analyses.
• Monitor contract burn rates and PO utilization.
• Manage outsourced clinical spend reporting.

Description

Serve as the primary business partner for clinical outsourcing spend across the development portfolio. Act as the subject matter expert for clinical accruals, vendor invoice management, program cost forecasting, and long-range budget planning. Partner with Clinical Operations, Contracts & Outsourcing, FP&A, Accounting, and external vendors to ensure accurate forecasting, accrual reporting, invoice reconciliation, and financial oversight throughout the clinical study lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Own clinical trial accruals across development programs.

Advanced Excel skills including forecasting and scenario analysis.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120.00 - $120.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
