Job summary

Gusto is seeking an FP&A AI Architect to design and lead AI-driven planning, forecasting, and reporting for finance. You will build driver-based forecasts, automate variance analyses, and ensure data lineage from GL to planning tools.

The role blends finance expertise with data and AI architecture to drive trust and efficiency. You’ll collaborate with CFO, FP&A, Data, and Engineering to implement scalable, auditable AI-powered processes and provide strategic insights for leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, finance systems, or related, incl. 3+ years leading AI/ML or automation for finance
• Strong FP&A fundamentals: driver-based modeling, rolling forecasts, SaaS/fintech metrics
• Hands-on with LLMs, agentic systems, prompting, RAG, and time-series forecasting methods
• Proficient in SQL, Python, modern data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt) and BI tools
• Experience with enterprise planning platforms and ERP/GL systems
• Proven track record delivering production-grade solutions under SOX and data governance
• Excellent communication: explain model behavior to CFOs and system design to engineers

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year architecture and roadmap for AI-enabled planning, forecasting, and reporting
• Architect driver-based, ML-assisted forecasts for revenue, headcount, opex, and cash
• Build agentic workflows for variance commentary, scenario modeling, and board narratives
• Partner with Data Engineering to ensure governed data models across GL, billing, CRM, HRIS
• Establish evals, lineage, and audit trails for security and privacy compliance
• Drive build-vs-buy decisions across planning platforms, LLM providers, and orchestration frameworks
• Mentor analysts and engineers, create reusable patterns, and drive AI adoption in Finance
• Measure impact on cycle time, forecast accuracy, and analyst capacity
