Job summary

Micron Technology is seeking a Senior or Staff Engineer for the Dry Etch R&D team to develop and scale plasma-based etch processes enabling next-generation high-bandwidth memory packaging technology.

This role offers deep technical ownership, cross-functional collaboration with R&D, suppliers, and manufacturing, and the opportunity to influence technology roadmaps from early research through high-volume production.

Qualifications

• This role requires deep technical ownership and cross-functional collaboration across R&D, suppliers, and manufacturing.
• Experience with plasma-based etch processes and semiconductor packaging is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collateral Acquisition & Access Control: Coordinate secure download of foundry collateral and enforce NDA policies.
• PDK Installation & Environment Setup: Install/configure PDKs, rule decks, models, libraries; align toolchains with foundry recommendations.
• Validation & Testing (Core Responsibility): Complete PDK validation pipeline including unit testing (DRC/LVS/ERC/PERC, models, libraries).
• Smoke testing of end-to-end CAD flows and regression testing vs prior PDK releases; confirm validations before transfer to established teams.

Key Responsibilities

Collateral Acquisition & Access Control

• Coordinate secure download of foundry collateral (e.g., TSMC PDKs, IP bundles) from approved channels
• Track delivery schedules and completeness of collateral versus plan
• Enforce NDA and access-control policies for restricted foundry data

PDK Installation & Environment Setup

• Install and configure PDKs, rule decks, models, and libraries in standardized environments
• Align toolchain versions with foundry recommendations
• Maintain directory structures and environment setup for multi-node support

Validation & Testing (Core Responsibility)

• Complete PDK validation pipeline:
  Unit testing (DRC/LVS/ERC/PERC, models, libraries)

1. Smoke testing of end-to-end CAD flows

Regression testing versus prior PDK releases

• Confirm that all validation checkpoints are satisfied before transferring to establish teams
