Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in foundry operations, metal casting, manufacturing supervision, or a related production environment.
• Strong understanding of sand molding, metal pouring, and foundry production processes.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate, and direct employees.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and best practices within an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
• Familiarity with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and 5S methodologies.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and regularly work in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate forklifts and production equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a safe work environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
• Supervise daily shop floor activities, monitor performance, and coach employees to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
• Support employee engagement, well-being, and professional growth.
• Lead daily shift meetings and participate in production and supervisor meetings.
• Ensure required training is completed and employees possess the skills necessary to perform their roles safely and effectively.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
• Monitor staffing levels and labor performance to support operational and revenue goals.
• Review quality metrics and corrective actions to address internal and external quality concerns.
• Lead Continuous Improvement Team (CIT) activities and other operational improvement efforts.
• Monitor and coach adherence to QCDSM, accountability reporting, 5S, TPM, and other lean manufacturing programs.
• Conduct monthly 5S audits and support daily TPM improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate and oversee major equipment repairs within the department.
• Develop department leads and prepare high-potential employees for future leadership opportunities.
• Receive incoming raw material shipments and outgoing deliveries.
• Monitor and assist with ingot inventory reconciliation and material management.
• Order parts, supplies, and manage warehouse inventory as needed.
• Ensure routine testing of sand and ingot materials is completed according to established schedules.
• Maintain sand laboratory equipment and spectrometer systems.
• Spend approximately 70% of time in the production environment and 30% performing administrative and office duties.
• Operate forklifts and use electric and pneumatic hand tools as required.
