Job summary

Cold Spring Granite is seeking a Foundry Molding/Pouring Supervisor to lead the sand molding and pouring operations, overseeing pattern placement in the mold through bronze pouring and all ancillary tasks. The supervisor drives process improvement while ensuring the safety, quality, cost and delivery targets for the team.

This is a full-time salaried role with hours Monday–Thursday 5am–2pm and Friday 5am–11am, guided by a focus on employee well‑being and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or High School diploma plus AS Foundry classes and adequate experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in foundry operations or supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a thorough understanding of foundry operations.
  • Strong mechanical background and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to understand and create performance metrics for quality, cost and delivery.
  • Complete knowledge of safety laws and requirements in a foundry setting.
  • Ability to lead and direct people.
  • Familiarity with quality and production-related work instructions and lean manufacturing concepts; knowledge of TPM and 5S Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and eliminate potential safety hazards and issues.
  • Monitor shop floor daily activities to identify performance issues and work with employees to resolve them.
  • Perform annual written performance appraisals and periodic verbal check-ins with direct reports.
  • Work with employees to improve their well-being.
  • Participate in daily supervisor/production meetings and conduct daily shift meetings.
  • Ensure training is current and employees have needed skills.
  • Coach on daily productivity improvements to meet corporate goals.
  • Coach to match headcount with revenue and hourly goals.
  • Review quality cost reports and act to correct quality issues; lead CIT meetings as needed.
  • Monitor and coach on QCDSM boards and AR compliance.
  • Coach 5S compliance and conduct monthly 5S audits.
  • Coach on daily TPM improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor major repairs in area of responsibility.
  • Develop department leads for future supervisor roles.
  • Receive ingot shipments at loading dock and reconcile inventory.
  • Order parts and supplies; manage warehouse.
  • Ensure weekly testing of sand and ingot; maintain Sand Lab and spectrometer.
  • 70% production environment; 30% office; ability to lift 60 lbs and use tools.

Job Summary

The Foundry Molding/Pouring Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and direction of employees in the sand molding and pouring operation, from pattern placement in the mold through bronze pouring and all ancillary operations. The supervisor is responsible for process improvement as well as the total well‑being of the employee as they meet their safety, quality, cost and delivery expectations.

Status: This is a full-time; salaried position
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 5am – 2pm & Friday: 5am – 11am

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Identify and eliminate potential safety hazards and issues.

  • Monitor/Review/Coach to ensure head count matches revenue and revenue per hour goals are being met.
  • Review internal and external cost of quality reports and take action on a daily basis to identify and correct quality issues.Lead CIT meetings as required that improve production and reduce costs.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach on QCDSM Boards and AR compliance and completion.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach on 5S compliance and conduct monthly 5S audit.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach on daily TPM improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor all major repairs in area of responsibility.
  • Develops department leads and prepares them for supervisor roles.
  • Receive loads of ingot and shipments at loading dock.
  • Monitor and aid in reconciling ingot inventory.
  • Order parts and supplies as needed/manage warehouse.
  • Ensure testing of sand and ingot is done per weekly routine.
  • Maintain Sand Lab and spectrometer
  • 70% of the time spent in a production environment and 30% time spent doing office/desk work and some forklift operation. Must be able to lift 60 lbs. bronze plates and handle routine use of electric and pneumatic hand tools.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, High School Diploma plus American Society of Foundry classes and appropriate experience is acceptable.
  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills with a thorough understanding of foundry operations.
  • Possess a strong mechanical background and be goal oriented.
  • Ability to understand and create performance metrics for quality, cost and delivery.
  • Must have complete knowledge of safety laws and requirements in a foundry setting.
  • Must have the ability to lead and direct people.
  • Should be familiar with quality and production related work instructions and lean manufacturing concepts. Understand the AFE, cost and purchasing systems and be knowledgeable of the TPM and 5S Systems.
