Caterpillar Inc. invites applications for a Foundry Manufacturing Engineer in Mapleton, IL. The role focuses on optimizing molding operations, supporting daily production, and leading capital and continuous improvement projects in a high-volume foundry environment.

The candidate will collaborate with production, maintenance, quality and engineering teams to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and hands-on experience with casting/foundry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Applied Engineering with metal casting/foundry focus.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to identify root causes.
• Effective communication with cross-functional teams is essential.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in manufacturing environments and capital project execution.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and improve mold failures, trial materials and handling.
• Support live production and respond to downtime events on the floor.
• Lead capital projects and NPI/NCI activities within governance processes.
• Drive safety, quality, productivity and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Lead manufacturing and facility projects from concept through implementation.
• Support automation, equipment integration and mechanical systems.
