Job summary

Responsibilities include operating core-making equipment, loading materials, assembling cores, and ensuring quality and safety throughout the shift. Previous foundry experience is not required.

Position Title: Foundry Core Maker / Core Room Technician Wage: $18.00 per hour Looking for a hands-on manufacturing career where you can learn a specialized skill? QPS Employment Group is hiring a Foundry Core Maker/Core Room Technician to produce, finish, inspect, and assemble sand cores used in the foundry process. No foundry experience? No problem training is provided! If you’re mechanically inclined, dependable, safety-minded, and ready to work in a fast-paced industrial environment, this could be the opportunity for you!

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate shell core and ISO-cure (cold box) core-making equipment.
• Load and monitor sand, resin, and catalyst systems.
• Install, secure, and change core boxes and tooling as required.
• Adjust machine settings to ensure proper filling, curing, and ejection of cores.
• Apply coatings and monitor drying processes when required.
• Remove completed cores from equipment and place them on racks or carts for processing.
• Monitor core-making processes and assist with troubleshooting production issues.
• Fin, mud, clean, scrap, inspect, and repair cores as required.
• Assemble and glue cores according to production specifications.
• Gauge cores using required fixtures and measuring devices.
• Read and follow core sheets, work instructions, and production documentation.
• Tag completed racks and transport finished cores to designated storage areas.
• Inspect cores for dimensional accuracy, defects, cracks, incomplete fills, and overall quality.
• Segregate and report nonconforming materials or products.
• Follow all company safety procedures regarding equipment, chemicals, and production processes.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations, production areas, and aisles.
• Perform janitorial duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous foundry, manufacturing, production, or industrial experience preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn core-making processes.
• Ability to read work instructions and production documentation.
• Ability to work safely around production equipment, chemicals, and industrial environments.
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities.
• Forklift experience or certification is a plus but not required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and industrial conditions.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including respirator protection when necessary.
• Ability to work overtime or extended hours as needed.
