Job summary

talents lab in New York City is seeking an exceptional first dedicated technical recruiter to build the function from the ground up. You will own full-cycle technical hiring across engineering, data, and AI/ML roles, partner with leadership, and write the playbook rather than follow one.

You will create sourcing playbooks, scorecards, interview loops, and ATS configurations; track funnel metrics, protect the talent bar, hire in volume without lowering standards, and tell candidates a compelling

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting, with 3+ years owning technical pipelines (engineering, data, AI/ML, infrastructure).
• First recruiter at a recognizable startup; you built the function rather than inherited it.
• Track record of closing strong candidates with an exceptional story.
• Proven ability to build systems: scorecards, sourcing strategy, ATS setup (Greenhouse or Ashby).
• Comfort with data: you know your conversion rates and you use them to make decisions.
• Based in New York City.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle technical recruiting from sourcing to close across engineering, data, and AI/ML roles.
• Build hiring infrastructure from scratch: sourcing playbooks, scorecards, interview loops, and ATS configuration behind them.
• Set and protect the talent bar while moving fast, hiring quality people in volume without letting standards slip.
• Track the funnel with real numbers, conversion rates, and pipeline analytics, and use them to fix what isn't working.
• Coach hiring managers and push back on leadership when the process or the bar needs defending
• Tell candidates a story about this company that makes strong people want to leave their current job for it
