Tailored resume and cover letter, ready to send.
Missional Software is seeking a founding Sales Executive to build the market in Christian education. You will own the territory, identify senior decision-makers, and drive the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing, with significant autonomy and direct exposure to leadership.
You will craft a 90‑day market plan, build a target list, and create opportunities via outbound efforts, referrals, and strategic relationships. This role is remote and US-based, with travel to conferences as needed.
Missional Software is building something new at the intersection of AI, digital strategy, and Christian education and we’re looking for a salesperson who wants more than a traditional sales job. We’re looking for someone who is hungry, responsible, resourceful, coachable, and ready to own something.
This is a founding sales role. There is no established playbook for Christian education yet. There is no stack of inbound leads waiting for you. There is no SDR handing you meetings. You will have the freedom to identify the right institutions, open doors with senior leaders, build relationships, run the sales process, and close business. What you learn in the market will directly influence our product, messaging, marketing, and the sales organization we build around you. If you want a role where someone tells you exactly what to do every day, this probably isn’t it.
If you want a role where your initiative, discipline, ideas, and results can change the trajectory of a company, keep reading...
Christian education is a new vertical for Missional Software. You’ll initially focus on one of three markets, working with the CEO to determine where you can make the biggest impact:
You’ll create your own 90-day market plan, build your target list, identify decision‑makers, develop relationships, create opportunities, and close business. You’ll work directly with senior leadership and have a front‑row seat to the decisions that shape the company.
You won’t just execute someone else’s sales strategy. You’ll help build it.
Build Your Market: Research and identify the institutions where Missional Software can make the biggest difference. Build relationships with:
You will own your territory, your relationships, and your pipeline. Create Opportunity: There is no giant inbound machine behind you. You will generate opportunities through: Smart outbound prospecting, Referrals, Existing relationships, Association networks, Conferences, Campus visits and other creative approaches we haven’t thought of yet
You won’t hand the deal off to someone else when it gets complicated. You’ll learn how to navigate multiple stakeholders, build a compelling business case, hold your price, negotiate thoughtfully, and get the deal across the finish line.
You’ll identify opportunities for:
You’ll represent the company at Christian education gatherings including: ACSI, CCCU, ABHE, ACCS, and other Regional conferences and events
You’ll meet people, start conversations, follow up, build credibility, and turn relationships into opportunities.
You’ll tell us:
Your feedback will influence our product, marketing, sales process, and future hiring.
We believe great salespeople should have freedom with accountability. You will have significant autonomy, but you won’t operate in a vacuum. You’ll work closely with the Founding Partner, CEO, and leadership team to establish your first‑year goals and build a 90‑day plan.
We expect a disciplined sales rhythm, including:
Our working expectation is approximately a 90‑day sales cycle from first meeting to signed agreement.
Some deals will move faster. Some complex university opportunities will take longer. What matters is that you know your numbers, understand your pipeline, and know why a deal is moving — or isn’t.
You might be early in your sales career. You might already have several years of success under your belt. What matters most is that you have the drive and maturity to own the opportunity in front of you.
You are someone who:
We will teach you our products, technology, market, and sales process. Your energy and drive are what you bring to the table!
Experience in any of the following is a plus:
An existing network in Christian education is valuable — but you don’t need to walk in with it.
You need to know how to build one.
We’ll teach you the product. We need someone who is willing to learn the market and has the discipline to go create the opportunities.
is Remote. Flexible. Accountable.
This is a US‑based remote position with a home office. We are particularly looking for someone in the Cincinnati area but will explore elsewhere. Proximity to many Christian colleges, universities, theological seminaries, schools, etc. will be addressed.
You can work from any US time zone as we value results over watching a clock. That also means you need to be exceptionally good at managing yourself.
You should be comfortable creating your own structure, managing your calendar, communicating proactively, and keeping commitments without someone looking over your shoulder.
Approximately 25% travel is expected once you’re ramped — generally about one week per month — for conferences, association events, and late‑stage campus opportunities.
$60,000 Base + $40,000 Commission at Target with $100,000 On‑Target Earnings
There are plenty of sales jobs where you’re handed a territory, given a list, assigned a quota, and told to execute.
This isn’t one of them.
This is a chance to walk into a market that is still being built and say:
You’ll have access to the CEO.
You’ll influence the product.
You’ll build the pipeline.
You’ll meet institutional leaders.
You’ll travel to the places where relationships happen.
You’ll learn how complex sales actually work.
And if you succeed, you won’t just have sold something. You’ll have helped build an entire market and the sales organization that follows it.
For the right person, this could become much bigger than a sales job.
It could be the beginning of a career in building something.
We take hiring seriously because this role matters.
Our process includes:
We ask about real experiences — actual deals, numbers, buyers, challenges, and outcomes.
The process typically takes two to three weeks, and we’ll tell you where you stand after each stage. Before you apply, make sure you have the time to complete the hiring cycle should you move through each stage.
Equal Opportunity | Missional Software is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate candidates based on their ability, experience, character, and fit for the role. US work authorization without sponsorship is required.
