Job summary

MLabs Ltd in New York City is seeking a Founding Engineer with co-founder-level ownership to architect and build core financial infrastructure for a next-generation FX trading venue. The role combines high-speed Rust development with a strategic, founder-level mandate.

You will own the technical roadmap, collaborate with leadership, and apply AI-native workflows to accelerate delivery in a fast-paced startup environment in NY.

Qualifications

• Expert Rust Fluency: deep, hands-on Rust experience required.
• Core Financial/Trading Infra: background in derivatives, margin, HFT, or clearing systems.
• Entrepreneurial Ownership: founder/CTO experience, or exceptional output with <5 years.
• AI-Native Workflow: proficiency with agentic AI orchestration to accelerate development.
• Domain Expertise: DeFi, HFT, kernel, compilers, OS, or physics engines.
• Work Ethic & Location: full-time on-site in NYC or relocation, 6+ days/week startup culture.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and optimize low-latency core trading infrastructure in Rust.
• Own technical roadmap and collaborate with leadership on architecture.
• Leverage AI-native workflows to accelerate delivery velocity in a fast-paced startup.
• Design risk, margin, netting, or settlement engines for institutional instruments.
• Maintain security, reliability, and high-performance standards.
