Job summary

Toast Tab, Inc. is seeking its first dedicated bookkeeper for a hands-on role bridging restaurant bookkeeping and product development.

You will manage books for pilot restaurant customers and work directly with product and engineering to shape workflows, tooling, and the service model. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in restaurant bookkeeping, deep COGS/prime cost knowledge, and comfort turning ambiguity into scalable processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, with restaurant/hospitality focus.
• Deep working knowledge of restaurant accounting mechanics: COGS, prime cost, tip reporting, multi-location consolidation.
• Experience building a process or practice from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end bookkeeping for pilot restaurant customers, including close and reconciliations.
• Serve as Toast's in-house expert on restaurant accounting and reporting.
• Translate client workflows into product requirements for roadmaps.
• Design and document SOPs, controls, and QA processes for a scalable function.
• Collaborate with restaurant operators to set expectations and deliver trusted service.
• Help define the function's future staffing, tooling, and where automation adds value.
