Job summary

Plug Consulting in New York City is partnering with an early-stage, venture-backed AI company to build a platform from the ground up. You’ll own the architecture, infrastructure and developer experience for a rapidly scaling product.

Join a tiny engineering team, work directly with the CTO, shape platform strategy, establish observability and incident response, and influence engineering standards. This is a full-time, on-site role with meaningful equity and full healthcare benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in platform, infrastructure or distributed-systems engineering.
• Experience scaling infrastructure in a high-growth VC-backed startup.
• Ownership of architecture decisions in production systems at scale.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems.
• Comfort in ambiguous environments where the platform is still being built.
• Experience in Series B+ technology companies is preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD, developer tooling, observability and incident response is desirable.
• Experience building multi-tenant platforms at scale is desirable.
• Strong technical academic background is desirable.

We’re partnering with an early-stage, venture-backed AI company building software for a large, technically complex industry that has seen very little automation to date.

The engineering team is intentionally small, and this hire will work directly with leadership to establish the company’s platform and infrastructure practice from the ground up.

The Role

This is much more than joining an established platform team. You’ll have significant ownership over the architecture, infrastructure and developer experience supporting a rapidly scaling product.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Owning platform architecture and shared infrastructure across the product
• Building and improving CI/CD, preview environments, test infrastructure and developer tooling
• Designing scalable multi-tenant infrastructure as new customers are onboarded
• Establishing observability, monitoring and incident-response practices
• Working directly with the CTO on both immediate engineering needs and longer-term platform strategy

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of platform, infrastructure or distributed-systems engineering experience
• Experience scaling infrastructure within a high-growth, VC-backed startup
• A track record of owning important architecture decisions within production systems at scale
• Strong experience designing and operating distributed systems
• Comfortable working in a highly ambiguous environment where the platform function is still being built
• Experience within a strong Series B+ technology company is preferred
• Experience with CI/CD, developer tooling, observability and incident response is desirable
• Experience building multi-tenant platforms at scale is desirable
• A strong technical academic background is desirable
