Davis School Chicago is launching a founding music program and seeks a part-time Music Teacher to build instrumental and choral ensembles from zero, delivering rigorous, student-centered instruction.

As a founding faculty member, you will shape curriculum, ensemble culture, and concert calendar while collaborating across disciplines to create a vibrant, inclusive college-preparatory environment. This role also emphasizes engagement with the Jewish school community in downtown Chicago.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Music, Music Education, or Conducting.
• Experience: Instrumental and choral conducting and ensemble-building required; 3+ years of teaching or directing preferred.
• Licensure: Illinois Professional Educator License in music preferred; National Board Certification a major plus.
• Craft: Evidence of ensembles, instrumental and vocal, that sounded better every semester you led them.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, rigorous instruction across founding music courses, instrumental and choral.
• Build ensembles and establish performance traditions and culture.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to create a vibrant, integrated curriculum.
• Lead founding concert calendar and ensure student engagement through performances.
