Davis School Chicago is seeking a Part-Time Founding Spanish Teacher to help build a rigorous, college-preparatory Spanish program in downtown Chicago. The role focuses on instruction of Spanish I and II, with ambition to reach AP levels, in a proudly Jewish setting.

The successful candidate will teach in Spanish 90% of the time, design standards-based lessons, differentiate for diverse learners, and collaborate across disciplines to shape a culture of excellence and innovation in language

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • Spanish fluency required.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License in high school Spanish preferred; National Board Certification a plus.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience preferred; world-language teaching a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach sections of Spanish I and II as assigned.
  • Design standards-based lessons to promote language acquisition.
  • Create immersive environments to practice speaking and writing in Spanish.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners.
  • Use educational technology to enhance engagement and achievement.
  • Assess progress with formative and summative measures.
  • Collaborate to develop a vertically aligned Spanish curriculum.
  • Teach for real proficiency aligned to ACTFL standards.
