Job summary

The Chicago School's Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a physician educator to join as founding Internal Medicine faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor. The appointee will oversee curriculum development and deliver innovative medical education in a student‑centered environment.

The position emphasizes leadership in curriculum design, faculty recruitment, and collaboration with hospitals and clinics, with research and service components

Qualifications

  • DO or MD degree with board certification in related specialty.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in medical education, residency training, or faculty leadership.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Commitment to collaborative, interprofessional education and the integration of osteopathic principles in training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership for Internal Medicine within the IllinoisCOM.
  • Lead curriculum development and assessment for the Internal Medicine clinical rotations.
  • Assist curriculum development and assessment in preclinical courses as needed.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty members within the department.
  • Maintain partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and community organizations to support clinical training and research opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary Internal Medicine curriculum.
  • Teach medical students using evidence‑based instructional methods, including case‑based and small‑group learning.
  • Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in clinical and academic settings.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate Internal Medicine content across the curriculum.
  • Represent the College in professional organizations and events.
  • Assist where needed with student recruitment and community outreach efforts.
  • Participate in college and University committees.
  • Support student and faculty participation in community outreach and service‑learning programs.
  • Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
  • Engage in clinical practice (strongly encouraged).
  • Promote a culture of research and scholarship.
  • Support faculty and student research.
  • Seek external funding opportunities and partnerships to enhance research initiatives.
  • Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance for research activities.
