Job summary

Indiana University School of Medicine seeks an accomplished academic physician leader to serve as the founding Chief of a new Division of General Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine. The Chief will recruit, develop, and retain faculty; set the division's strategic plan; and oversee budget, clinical performance, and research.

The role reports to the Chair of the Department and directs three sections with ~280 faculty.

Qualifications

• Proven record of leadership in a large academic medical setting.
• Experience advancing education, clinical care, and research missions.
• Ability to build strategic plans across multiple sites and divisions.
• Strong mentorship and faculty development experience.
• Credentials commensurate with appointment at Indiana University School of Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Define the founding strategic plan for the Division and its three sections.
• Build a leadership team with accountability and development opportunities.
• Advise on budgets, clinical performance, and partnerships with health systems.
• Advance research, scholarship, and education across general internal medicine and hospital medicine.
• Foster faculty development and collaboration across sites and divisions.
