Job summary

Preface Health is hiring its founding engineer to own the full technical surface—from frontend to backend and cloud infrastructure—while building EMR integrations with urgent-care and hospital workflows. You will help shape product direction alongside the co-founders and scale a healthcare referral network.

You’ll work in San Francisco, three to five years of experience, and quickly influence architecture, tooling, and engineering culture in a hands-on startup environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of full‑stack engineering experience (special cases considered)
• Strong Python, front end, and cloud across the stack
• Zero‑to‑one product ownership experience
• U.S.-based undergraduate degree required
• In‑person, five days a week, startup hours
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
• Healthcare/EMR integration experience is a strong plus

Responsibilities

• Own the full technical stack—front end, back end, and cloud infrastructure
• Design and ship EMR integrations connecting the referral platform to care workflows
• Build and iterate the core referral flow to route patients to the right specialist
• Contribute to product decisions with the founders, translating clinical needs into engineering priorities
• Establish engineering foundations and practices as the first engineering hire
