Job summary

Invoca is seeking a Founding Head of Forward Deployed Engineering to build and lead the embedded engineering team within our Go-to-Market motion. You will hire, coach, and prioritize deals, turning technical credibility into closed deals and successful onboardings.

This player-coach role requires strong business judgment, executive communication, and the ability to influence across Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success. Up to 50% on-site with customers to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a customer-facing technical team and managing engineers.
• Ability to align engineering work with sales and onboarding goals.
• Strong business judgment on when to invest engineering effort in deals.
• Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders with clear communication.
• Experience turning field feedback into repeatable processes and assets.

Responsibilities

• Hire, coach, and manage Forward Deployed Engineers and set performance expectations.
• Triage and prioritize deployments across deal pipelines to optimize impact.
• Act as senior technical escalation on strategic deals and implementations.
• Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success to define FDE roles.
• Define PoCs scope, debrief wins/losses, and capture reusable assets.
• Provide feedback loops to product/engineering based on field experiences.
• Report on deals influenced and time-to-value improvements.
• Plan headcount and capacity planning for growth.
• Spend up to 50% on-site with customers to accelerate delivery.
