Job summary

Arena Club seeks a Fraud Analyst to be the founding member of our risk team, defending the platform against fraud and payment abuse while building rules-based systems from the ground up.

You will design the initial fraud detection framework, monitor payments and registrations, leverage AI to automate workflows, and translate data trends into actionable policies. This role includes collaborating with Customer Operations to keep legitimate users frictionless.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline.
• 1-3 years in fraud operations, trust & safety, payments risk, or chargeback/dispute operations.
• Tech-forward with demonstrated experience leveraging AI platforms (like Claude) to analyze information, structure logical workflows, and scale output.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying databases independently, combined with advanced Excel capabilities for deep-dive transactional analysis.
• Highly autonomous, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and excited by building scalable processes where no prior playbook exists.
• Strong foundational understanding of digital payment networks, merchant-side card processing, and chargeback mechanics.
• Experience with a large payment processor such as Stripe for payments, disputes, etc.

Responsibilities

• Establish the Foundation: Design, implement, and document initial rules-based fraud detection system to create a secure baseline.
• Protect Business Assets: Monitor transactional data, registrations, and payment flows to identify and mitigate fraud and payment abuse.
• Leverage AI: Use LLMs and AI tools to analyze data patterns, automate workflows, and draft behavioral logic rules.
• Drive BI: Query transactional databases, uncover anomalies, and translate trends into fraud prevention policies.
• Manage Revenue Lifecycle: Oversee end-to-end chargeback disputes, optimize evidence submission to maximize recovery.
• Align with Customer Operations: Integrate risk assessment workflows into customer support with zero friction for legitimate users.
