Job summary

Anthropic Limited is seeking a founding Forward Deployed Engineer Manager to build and scale an enterprise AI deployment team. You will hire and mentor a high-performing FDE group, set standards for customer engagements, and develop playbooks that turn early successes into repeatable patterns.

You will partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering to align field insights with product direction while remaining hands-on enough to review architectures and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering, solutions architecture, or technical customer-facing work.
• 2+ years of people management in a services or FDE org.
• Experience building organizations from 0 to 1.
• Experience with enterprise customers on technical implementations.
• Executive presence with strategic and hands-on capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Excitement for creating something new and leading a team that doesn't yet exist.

Responsibilities

• Hire, develop, and retain a world-class Forward Deployed Engineering team.
• Provide technical mentorship and invest in career growth.
• Staff and oversee customer engagements across the portfolio.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering to shape engagements and product direction.
• Review architectures and ensure high-quality, production-ready solutions.
• Lead technical discovery sessions and prototype solutions when needed.
• Build repeatable playbooks and internal knowledge bases.
• Define team OKRs aligned to customer success and product adoption.
• Translate field insights into product improvements.
• Travel to customer sites 25–50% when needed.
