Job summary

Altis is building its Founding Engineering team in New York City, aiming to scale from 2 to around 10 engineers. The role reports to the CEO and focuses on shipping a product-minded roadmap tied to speeding up research processes.

You will collaborate with the existing engineering team on architecture decisions and build the processes necessary for a growing, early-stage startup. In-person, 4 days a week in NYC.

Qualifications

• A track record of shipping software that is adopted by users, not just shipped to spec.
• Ability to own and communicate delivery timelines, flagging risks early.
• Strong communication with technical peers and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership.
• Experience with AI-native, LLM- or RAG-powered products.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap and delivery of internal tooling for research enablement.
• Commit to engineering delivery dates and flag slippage early.
• Collaborate on architecture decisions including API access for customers.
• Report to the CEO as a technical thought partner on product/roadmap tradeoffs.
• Establish engineering processes as the team scales.
• Help design and run the technical interview process as the team grows.
