Job summary

Helios Intelligence, Inc. is hiring an extraordinary engineer to own the company’s technical foundation. You’ll lead end‑to‑end systems from model to product, build the backend, enforce HIPAA‑grade security, and scale inference for a health data platform used by real users.

You’ll work directly with the founders to ship impactful, production‑grade systems with ownership and equity. Boston‑adjacent, with openness to remote for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Track record building systems end-to-end that real users depend on.
• Unusually deep in ML, backend, or infrastructure, and hungry to cover the rest.
• High learning rate and bias to action; ship before you wait for permission.
• Low ego and willingness to own critical problems.
• Startup/early-employee experience or open-source impact is a plus.
• Four+ years building production software; CS degree or equivalent.
• Real production ML experience with trained/operated models and leakage checks.
• Strong Python and backend fundamentals; API design and cloud infra (AWS/GCP).
• Hands-on LLM engineering from prompts to evaluation; TypeScript/React skills.
• Healthcare data security experience (HIPAA) a hard requirement.
• Experience with omics or high-dimensional biological data is a plus.
• Familiarity with FHIR/HIPAA concepts is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• 1. Build the website and member product for the test and wearables data.
• 2. Design and maintain the backend: APIs, services, integrations, checkout to results.
• 3. Enforce data security with encryption, access control, auditing, secrets management.
• 4. Serve models at scale with low latency and predictable cost.
• 5. Own data and training infrastructure from ingestion to versioning and experiments.
• 6. Train models with new data sources and ensure proper validation.
