Job summary

HuCapital is seeking a founding engineer to help architect and build the next evolution of our AI-powered platform in the New York metro area. You will work directly with the Head of Innovation to shape product direction, infrastructure, and the B2C2B SaaS foundation, using agentic and generative AI.

You will own features end to end, contribute to technical strategy, and write clean TypeScript code while collaborating with designers and researchers.

We're looking for an engineer with deep experience in agentic and generative AI to help build the next evolution of HuCapital. This is a founding-level role with equity participation and profit sharing.

About the Role

This is not a standard engineering role. As the Founding Engineer, you will work directly with our Head of Innovation and Founder to architect and build the next evolution of the HuCapital platform. You will have a hand in shaping product direction, technical infrastructure, and the foundation of a B2C2B SaaS product that other communities can use to connect and match their members in meaningful ways.We are looking for someone who has built with agentic and generative AI, understands what it takes to ship products at an early stage, and is excited about the intersection of AI, community, and the future of how people find and build with each other.

What You'll Do

• Build and Evolve the Core Platform: Work on the HuCapital web app and contribute to the technical architecture as we scale and expand our product offering.
• Develop the B2C2B Infrastructure: Help design and build the systems that will allow other communities and organizations to license and deploy HuCapital's matching technology for their own members.
• Integrate and Advance AI Capabilities: Work with the OpenAI API to enhance and expand Huey's matching, recommendation, and conversational capabilities using agentic and generative AI approaches.
• Ship Features End to End: Take ownership of features from technical scoping through to production, collaborating closely with product designers, UX researchers, and the broader tech team.
• Contribute to Technical Strategy: Bring your experience and perspective to product and engineering decisions, helping shape how we build, what we prioritize, and how we scale.
• Maintain Code Quality and Standards: Write clean, well-documented TypeScript and contribute to a codebase built for longevity and collaboration.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience building AI-powered SaaS products, with hands-on work in agentic and generative AI.
• Strong proficiency in our current stack: Next.js, React Native, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and component libraries.
• Experience working with the OpenAI API or comparable large language model integrations.
• A product-minded engineer who thinks about the user experience and business context of what they build, not just the code.
• Comfortable working in an early-stage environment where priorities shift, ambiguity is normal, and ownership is expected.
• Strong communicator who can work cross-functionally with non-technical teammates.
• Based in or near New York City. Remote day-to-day with occasional in-person collaboration.
