Job summary

Clera Labs, Inc. is an early-stage AI company building multimodal agents for customer conversations across voice, SMS, and email. You will own a core product or engineering domain end to end, collaborating with customers to shape the product and push improvements into production.

You will work across React/Next.js frontends, Node.js backends, and Python services, shipping in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities and limited processes.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of full-stack engineering experience shipping and scaling products from early development into broader use.
• Production proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js and experience building Python services.
• Hands-on experience shipping production systems with LLM APIs or agent SDKs.
• Depth in at least one area: production voice or SMS agents, agent state, guardrails, or B2B2C products.
• Experience making independent product decisions, customer discovery, and ownership through launch.

About the Role

Join an early-stage AI company building multimodal agents for customer conversations across voice, SMS, and email. You will own a core product or engineering domain end to end, working closely with customers and the team to shape the product and bring improvements into production.

What You'll Do

• Own a product or infrastructure domain from architecture through daily production releases.

• Speak with customers, synthesize feedback, and make product decisions without a dedicated product manager.

• Build and optimize multimodal agents, including low-latency voice experiences and persistent conversation state across channels.

• Set quality practices for non-deterministic systems, including evaluations, prompt versioning, guardrails, and drift detection.

• Work across React and Next.js frontends, Node.js backends, and Python services.

What We're Looking For

• Three to eight years of full-stack engineering experience, with a track record of shipping and scaling products from early development into broader use.

• Production proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js, plus experience building Python services.

• Hands-on experience shipping production systems with LLM APIs or agent SDKs.

• Depth in at least one area: production voice or SMS agents, long-running agent state and memory, agent evaluations and guardrails, or B2B2C and marketplace products.

• Experience making independent product decisions, conducting customer discovery, and owning projects through launch.

• Strong AI or agentic systems experience, including work with low-latency requirements and unpredictable system behavior. Voice pipeline or evaluation tooling experience is useful.

• Comfort working in an early-stage environment with changing priorities and limited process.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $180,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

On-site, five days per week in New York, New York.
