Job Opportunity - Founding Electrical Engineer - Advanced Space/Energy Tech - San Diego

We’re partnering with an early-stage deep-tech company developing compact, next-gen power systems for current and future space applications.

I’m looking for a hands‑on Founding Electrical Engineer to take ownership of electrical hardware development from initial architecture and prototyping through integration, testing, and eventual deployment. This is an opportunity to join a small, execution-focused engineering team and help establish the technical foundations, processes, and standards for the electrical function.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing, building, and testing novel electronic circuits and electrical hardware
• Owning the full development lifecycle, including requirements, schematics, PCB layout, prototyping, verification, and iteration
• Developing and integrating high-performance power electronics and embedded control systems
• Supporting experimental hardware and test campaigns in a fast-moving laboratory environment
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Helping define electrical engineering processes, standards, and future team growth

Ideal Qualifications:

• BSc degree in Electrical Engineering (Advanced degree preferred)
• 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably in Aerospace, fusion, advanced energy, particle accelerators, or other high-energy systems
• Strong hands‑on circuit design, prototyping, and testing capabilities
• FPGA-based controls, instrumentation, or real-time data acquisition
• Experience owning complex electrical projects from concept through commissioning
• Comfortable working in an early-stage, product-driven engineering environment and ideally prior experience

You'd be an even better fit if you have experience with:

• Plasma generation or plasma-generating equipment
• High‑power RF systems, RF power supplies, amplifiers, or matching networks
• Magnetic systems, electromagnets, pulsed magnets
