Astra is seeking a Founding Director of Quality and Mission Assurance to own reliability and risk across space hardware programs. You will build the quality organization, drive QMS implementation (AS9100), and lead risk management, reliability, and system safety in a fast-paced startup environment.

You will chair the Failure Review Board, oversee supplier quality, and champion continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methodologies. The role requires strategic leadership and hands-on execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• 10+ years of experience in quality and mission assurance within aerospace/space/defense sectors.
• Experience implementing a QMS, preferably AS9100, in a manufacturing startup.
• Strong expertise in mission assurance concepts including risk management, reliability, and system safety.
• Proven ability to lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Responsabilités

• Lead Mission Assurance strategy and risk management across programs.
• Build and scale Design Assurance to embed quality in product design.
• Oversee reliability, system safety, and FRB for major anomalies.
• Serve as independent reviewer in design reviews, AP processes, and audits.
• Develop and maintain QMS and supplier quality programs.
