Job summary

UHP is a veteran-focused education and leadership organization in Northwest Arkansas building two new transportation trades programs: CDL truck driving and Diesel Mechanic. The Founding Director will write curriculum, stand up the range, fleet, and shop, license and register programs, hire instructors, and teach as needed while shaping a connected transportation pathway.

You will work closely with employer partners, including regional carriers, and drive to ensure program success, accreditation

Qualifications

• Current Class A CDL and DOT medical card.
• 5+ years commercial driving or CDL instruction.
• Experience maintaining heavy trucks and diesel equipment.
• 2+ years leading people (e.g., supervisor roles).
• Working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT rules (hours of service, inspections).
• Ability to be approved as instructor by ADHE.
• Comfort writing procedures and using scheduling/reporting software.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Build the CDL and Diesel Mechanic programs from planning through first cohorts.
• Design/adapt curriculum for ELDT theory and behind-the-wheel content.
• Specify trucks, range, shop bays, tools; coordinate with procurement.
• Lead instructor hiring, observe classes, ensure consistency across cohorts.
• Maintain licensing, registrations, compliance, and safety practices.
• Teach CDL classroom and range sessions as credentials allow; cover for instructors.
