Job summary

SalesAPE.ai, a California-based AI-first firm, seeks a Founding CTO to steer engineering, architecture and hiring through Series B and beyond. You will lead a dense, AI-augmented team to scale a multi-product platform, ensure reliability, and drive the commercial narrative with customers, investors and the board.

In this role you will own architecture, governance, and strategic tech decisions while remaining hands-on in the codebase during the first quarters. US travel may be required.

• Shipped AI agents in production for real users at scale.
• Scaled an engineering organisation through growth.
• Architected a multi-product platform from a single-product codebase.
• Hands-on coding; will remain in the codebase in early quarters.
• Runs agents in parallel as part of daily workflows.
• Experience carrying tech narratives through fundraising and procurement.
• Shipped SMB-focused products for non-technical users, mobile-first.
• Founder DNA with early-stage company experience.
• US-based with willingness to travel across time zones.
• Fits a founder-led, high-autonomy, commercially driven culture.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction through Series B and scale post-raise.
• Architect platform primitives for multi-product expansion.
• Build reliability: eval loops, tracing, guardrails, on-call discipline.
• Establish AI-native velocity across shipped surface area.
• Hire, level and retain the engineering team; decide in-house vs. bought.
• Engage customers, investors and board; lead security/procurement discussions.
• First 90 days: audit data, transcripts, call records, churn cohorts; publish assessment.
• Months 4–12: execute plan while the business compounds.
