Alexander Chapman Ltd. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build and own core infrastructure powering millions of AI‑driven conversations. You will work directly with the founding team on challenging problems across distributed systems, real‑time audio, telephony, infrastructure, and developer tooling.

The role emphasizes ownership and accountability in a fast‑moving startup environment, with opportunities to contribute across architecture, coding, and production operations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong CS fundamentals and experience building scalable systems.
• Experience with distributed systems, infrastructure, databases, or high‑performance backend services.
• Strong ownership and ability to operate in a fast‑moving startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Build core platform architecture, testing, observability, and integrations.
• Design highly scalable and reliable backend systems.
• Work on concurrency, distributed systems, data, storage, and infrastructure.
• Own projects from architecture through production.
• Build APIs and tooling that enable rapid customer onboarding.
• Troubleshoot production issues and turn customer feedback into improvements.
