Job summary

Jobtailor is hiring a backend engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, high‑performance backend systems for a fast‑growing startup in New York.

You will collaborate with the founders to define the technical strategy, architect cloud‑native APIs, optimize data pipelines, and ensure secure, fault‑tolerant, cost‑efficient infrastructure while shipping production systems regularly.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a backend engineer.
• Proven track record of shipping production systems.
• Expertise in backend frameworks such as Node.js, Django, Flask, Ruby on Rails, or FastAPI/Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, and data modeling.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization tools.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, Node.js, or Ruby.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience in early-stage startups or lean teams is a plus.
