Job summary

K1 Investment Management is building its internal AI function in Manhattan Beach, CA. You’ll be one of the founding team members, reporting directly to a Founding Partner, with no layers of management and genuine ownership from day one.

You’ll design AI-driven automations, prototype tools, and deliver measurable impact across a portfolio of 275+ companies, with potential to convert to a full-time leadership role. This internship offers real ownership and fast-track growth.

Qualifications

• Recent 2026 graduate or graduating in 2027, based in the Los Angeles area
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Business + CS, or related field
• At least one AI/ML, software engineering, or data science internship/project
• Daily, hands-on experience with Claude (Anthropic) including prompt engineering and multi-step workflows
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365; Power Automate or Copilot Studio is a bonus
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript; ability to ship working code
• Bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, curiosity about the direction of AI
• Availability to work in-office in Manhattan Beach 3+ days per week; 5 days preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI-driven automations using Claude, Microsoft 365, and custom integrations across the firm and portfolio
• Prototype AI tools and agents, from competitive intelligence scrapers to board-report generators
• Assess new AI models and tools and translate findings into practical recommendations for the investment team
• Create internal dashboards, data pipelines, and agentic workflows for investors
• Take on additional projects as needed
