Job summary

Excel Academy Charter Schools in Rhode Island seeks a dedicated teacher to deliver rigorous college-preparatory instruction. You will lead inclusion-focused instruction and collaborate with general educators to tailor learning, with a strong emphasis on supporting students with special needs and coordinating IEP-driven accommodations.

A bachelor’s degree is required and RI Special Education certification is preferred; master’s degree is a plus.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Rhode Island certified (Secondary Grades Special Education, 6-12) or in the process of obtaining certification.

Responsibilities

Serve as an inclusion teacher for 10th grade students to support learning abilities of high-needs students.
Differentiate curriculum with general education teachers; help create accommodations and modify curriculum.
Ensure that all work with students with special needs aligns with school goals for achievement.
Ensure compliance with federal/state special education regulations in service delivery.
Manage all paperwork (IEPs, 504s, records) for Special Education cases and maintain deadlines.
Maintain regular communication with students’ parents/guardians and families.
