Job summary

True Anomaly is seeking an inspirational creative leader to found our industrial product design function and build the team around it. You’ll sit with engineers shaping spacecraft hardware and space-based interceptors, bringing your design aesthetic to the toughest problems to operate flawlessly in challenging environments.

You will report to the Creative Director and define the design language, establish the function, and hire the team for a pivotal role that influences government and military

Qualifications

• Show us a portfolio of hardware you led or shaped, with a clear account of what you decided and why
• Demonstrate experience leading designers, from hiring to mentoring
• You’ll be working closely with engineers solving structural, thermal, and other problems
• Background in consumer, automotive, aerospace, robotics, medical, or industrial equipment is a fit; defense/space knowledge is a plus (not required)

Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment of industrial design at True Anomaly: define function, standard, and the relationship with hardware engineering
• Own the design language of hardware products through your team and personal work, champion great design across the company
• Hire and lead a high-performing team of industrial and product designers
• Visualize new concepts that start conversations and push the art of the possible
• Integrate design early with engineering and architecture decisions to shape hardware from the start
