Job summary

University of Minnesota Medical School in Minnesota is recruiting a Director of Foundations Curriculum Operations to lead the Foundations Phase across three campuses (Twin Cities, Duluth, St. Cloud). The role supervises the Course Management team, partners with the instructional design group, and reports to the Associate Dean for Foundations Curriculum.

This is a hybrid position. You will manage course operations, strategic planning, and academic technology, ensuring timely delivery, LCME

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least six years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, health professions education, or a comparably complex organization.
• At least three years directly supervising professional staff, including hiring and performance management.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-stakeholder projects from plan through completion.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team or unit through a significant change in structure, process, or systems.
• Clear written and spoken communication, including the ability to deliver difficult messages to staff and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the tri-campus Foundations course management team, including hiring and performance evaluations.
• Set priorities and staffing across campuses to ensure courses are built, scheduled, and delivered on time.
• Establish operating procedures for course delivery: Canvas setup, gradebook, student communications, and grade reporting timelines.
• Lead course management huddles and resolve operational escalations with the Associate Dean.
• Design staffing models and manage the Foundations budget and vendor relationships.
• Develop multi-year operational plan aligned with LCME standards and university priorities.
• Translate governance decisions into project plans with owners and timelines.
• Oversee implementation of curricular changes across campuses.
• Ensure course close-out meetings and annual reviews are completed and drive improvements.
