Job summary

Morgan State University seeks a Director of Fiscal Operations & Foundation Accounting to oversee the Foundation's accounting integrity during monthly and annual closes. This exempt, non-supervisory role partners with the AVP, AR Manager and Senior Endowment & Fund Accountant to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
At least seven years of progressive nonprofit or fund accounting experience including ownership of a full close cycle.
CPA or in active progress preferred.

Responsibilities

Own the month-end and year-end close; consolidate entries and review journal entries for accuracy.
Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; ensure GAAP compliance across all fund types.
Set accounting policy for contributions, pledges, investments and net assets; resolve complex accounting questions.
Establish and maintain internal controls and segregation of duties across the close cycle.
Prepare the monthly financial reporting package for AVP review and Board distribution.
Support regulatory reporting and external audit with schedules and reconciliations.
