Job summary

Alternative Family Services in California seeks a Caseworker to support foster youth and families, building relationships, developing treatment plans, and coordinating services. This community-based role requires travel across Sacramento and San Joaquin Counties, with work in foster homes, schools, and community spaces.

You will supervise placements, conduct in-home visits, coordinate therapy and education services, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work or related field per CCR Title 22 requirements.
• Ability to obtain fingerprinting and background clearances.
• 1–2 years of experience with children and families preferred.
• Valid CA driver’s license with clean driving record and insurance.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support placements of youth in foster homes.
• Conduct in-home visits and provide ongoing supervision to youth and resource families.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans within required timelines.
• Provide crisis intervention and emergency response, including evenings/weekends.
• Maintain accurate case documentation per agency/state regulations.
• Coordinate services including therapy, education, medical care, and recreation.
• Train and support foster parents to ensure quality care and compliance.
• Collaborate with treatment teams, county representatives, and community partners.
• Identify community resources and act as liaison for services needed by the child.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ensure HIPAA compliance.
