Job summary

Guiding Harbor in Belleville/Metro Detroit is seeking a FC Visitation Aide to support Foster Care and Adoption staff in fulfilling program goals. This full-time, non-exempt role involves helping supervise visits, accompany clients, and assist with documentation.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, strong writing and interpersonal skills, and reliable transportation. A flexible schedule and sensitivity to trauma-affected children are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate’s Degree or special training a plus
• Experience working in an environment that cares for others
• Ability to succeed in a learning environment
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including non-typical hours
• Use of personal vehicle as needed with mileage reimbursement
• Understanding of working with children who have experienced trauma
• Commitment to the goals and philosophy of the organization including cultural competency
• Reliable transportation and maintain good driving record
• Must be highly motivated and flexible
• Must display sophisticated writing and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently or with a team
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook

Responsibilities

• Assists with monitoring birth and family visits at the agency or in the community
• Assists with transporting consumers
• Assists with documentation, record keeping and filing for the foster care department
• Assist with intake process for new clients in the Foster Care and Adoption Programs
• Attend weekly staff meetings, case review meetings, general staff meetings and conferences for professional development
• Assist the casework staff in provision of services to clients
• Participate in outreach and recruitment efforts
• Represent the agency in a positive manner
• Other duties as assigned
