Job summary

Gaston County Government’s Social Services division seeks a supervisor for a foster care unit. You will oversee 5 Social Worker IIIs, manage 75-100+ open cases, and ensure adherence to laws, policies, and safety standards.

You will also recruit, train, and evaluate staff, participate in management meetings, and be available for emergency duties as assigned. A master’s degree in social work is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution and 1 year of directly related experience.
• Master's degree in human services field (such as counseling, psychology, related discipline) and 2 years of directly related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) from an accredited institution and 2 years of directly related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a human services field and 3 years of directly related experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of staff in a foster care unit and responsibility for child safety and well-being for 75-100+ open cases.
• Facilitates unit staffing, guides staff, and provides coaching and discipline.
• Reviews court documents to ensure compliance with law and policy.
• Assigns cases, coordinates with legal staff, and manages scheduling and leave for the unit.
