Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree REQUIRED in Behavioral Science, Community Services, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Studies, Family Ecology, Family Life Education, Family Studies, Family/Child Development, Guidance/School Counseling, Human Development and Family Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or Sociology.
  • Background experience in foster care or adoption preferred.

Child and Family Services is a licensed, non-profit child placing agency.

The primary responsibilities of the Foster Care Specialist position is to provide services to ensure that biological parents and foster parents are given the tools and resources to meet the educational, physical and emotional needs of the child. Case management services are goal-oriented and time-limited. The goals are to ensure the safety and well-being of the child while developing and monitoring a service plan for the child’s parent(s), reporting and making recommendations to the court regarding a permanency plan for each child.

This is full-time position. Schedules need to be flexible to accommodate duties, children, families, and court, including a preliminary training.

Bachelor’s Degree REQUIRED in: Behavioral Science, Community Services, Counseling (Psychology), Criminal Justice (Administration), Early Childhood Studies, Family Ecology, Family Life Education, Family Studies, Family and/or Child Development, Guidance/School Counseling, Human Development and Family Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or Sociology; with background experience in foster care or adoption preferred.

Requirements

Reliable transportation is necessary and the caseworker must have a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license, a good driving record, and insurance as required by law.
