Job Summary

The Foster Care Case Manager provides case management services to children in foster care and their families and assists them with reaching timely permanency. Children and families served can include cases from Judson Center or Child Safe.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements a permanency plan for each assigned child.
  • Develops appropriate treatment plan and goals for all consumers served.
  • Provides necessary resources and referrals to meet goals.
  • Participates in required trainings, scheduled team meetings, and court hearings.
  • Completes face-to-face contacts as required.
  • Assists with emergency situations by covering shift(s) as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that allows for support to consumers during non-typical business hours.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Concise grammatical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Bachelor’s degree in a social work or related human services field.
  • Must be able to attend and complete 9-week foster care pre-service training through the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Completion is achieving a passing score.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License, appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
Working Conditions
  • Works in an office environment and in the community as needed.
  • Non-traditional hours occur often due to the need for evening and weekend visitation for children and birth parents as well as accommodation of foster parent’s schedules.
