Summary
The recruiter/trainer will recruit, train, and license families pursuing family, therapeutic, or IAFT foster parent licensing, and coordinate placement of foster children. The role includes ongoing training of foster parents, model-related topics, CPR, First Aid, MAR, and other regional training needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete all preservice training within required timeframes; 24 hours annually.
- Recruit foster care referrals and develop relationships with DSS offices and referral sources.
- Utilize the Teaching-Family Model for training foster families on safety and strengths.
- Ensure homes meet licensing regulations and understand foster care and adoption impacts.
- Assist families with licensing requirements and transfer licenses if applicable.
- Maintain professional contact with families during training and licensing processes.
- Conduct in-home visits prior to license transfers.
- Coordinate secondary reviews of homes if necessary.
- Ensure homes requesting licensing are staffed before submission.
- Prepare training reports, individual training plans, and licensing progress updates.
- Review and submit all documentation needed for licensure.
- Participate in planning and delivering training, licensing, treatment, and placement services.
- Represent the agency at community forums and public presentations.
- Provide monthly support and training groups for foster families and children.
- Provide case management services as needed, especially during staff absences.
- Lead foster parent recruitment efforts, maintaining relationships with referral sources.
- Meet quarterly recruitment quotas.
- Participate in staff meetings and coordinate with regional staff on foster home needs.
- Evaluate youth needs for placement matching.
- Attend orientation and training sessions with foster parents.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field; relevant work experience required.
- Certification or ability to gain certification in foster parent training.
- Experience with the Teaching-Family Model preferred.
- Previous case management or foster care supervision experience preferred.
- Experience recruiting or training foster parents preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, using hands, talking, hearing, reaching, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as needed.
- Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Visual abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
- Driving and operating a vehicle; valid NC driver’s license required.
- Work environment involves office-related noises; travel to different locations required.
Salary expectations
- Starting at the midpoint of $42,000-$47,000, depending on qualifications and internal factors.
