Job summary

Protex AI in Boston is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to be the founding technical presence in our office. You will own software, data infrastructure, integrations, and custom builds, working directly with a key enterprise client and a Technical Implementation Consultant.

This hybrid role blends data engineering, backend and full-stack work, with travel to client sites 4–5 times per year and periodic visits to Dublin HQ to stay aligned with product and teams.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in data engineering, data pipelines, backend architecture, API design, and modern data platforms.
• Excited to be first technical hire in the Boston office with high ownership and client-facing problem solving.
• Fullstack capabilities across backend, data infra, and lightweight frontend or integrations.
• Experience building data-heavy integrations with enterprise ecosystems and edge/IoT hardware setups.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and rapidly deliver production-grade builds.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and backend infrastructure for client data at scale.
• Lead the technical build work, data model configuration, and validation for use cases with the consultant.
• Build robust data connections, own data transformation pipelines, and ensure data integrity.
• Deliver hardware and edge integrations with PLCs, access control, cameras, and edge devices.
• Prototype quickly with AI tools and client data to unblock decisions in the field.
