A rapidly growing applied AI company is hiring its first Forward Deployed Engineer to help customers deploy AI solutions for complex operational workflows.

The company builds AI-powered systems designed to automate high-value business processes across a range of industries. The engineering team works closely with customers to understand their workflows, identify opportunities for automation, and build production systems that deliver measurable impact.

This is an early-stage opportunity with significant ownership and direct exposure to both customers and product development.

About the Role

The Founding Forward Deployed Engineer will own customer engagements from initial discovery through production deployment.

This is a highly hands-on engineering role combining software development, AI implementation, product thinking, and customer interaction. The ideal candidate enjoys taking ambiguous problems, understanding the underlying business requirements, and turning them into production-quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Own customer deployments end-to-end, from scoping and technical discovery through implementation and production


• Work directly with customer stakeholders to understand complex workflows and identify opportunities for automation


• Build and ship production software and AI-powered applications


• Develop agentic workflows and applications using modern foundation models and AI tooling


• Rapidly prototype, test, iterate, and deploy new solutions


• Partner closely with customers to ensure successful adoption and measurable outcomes


• Identify opportunities to expand the impact of existing deployments


• Help establish engineering and deployment processes as the company scales


• Act as a technical representative with customer teams, from end users through senior stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience independently designing, building, debugging, and shipping production systems


• Customer-facing ability and genuine interest in working directly with users and stakeholders


• High ownership and drive with the ability to operate independently in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment


• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate between technical and business requirements


• AI fluency and hands-on experience building applications with modern AI/LLM tooling


• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar platforms


• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript


• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and work across the stack
