Job summary

Colossus Technologies Group is seeking a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer in Boston to own strategic deployments and design customer-facing solutions. You’ll work with enterprise customers, translate feedback into product improvements, and contribute production-quality code to the core platform.

You will collaborate with Product, Platform, Research, and Engineering to tackle deployment challenges, define architecture, and guide the technical roadmap for an entirely new Forward Deployed

Qualifications

• Experience as Forward Deployed Engineer or similar working directly with enterprise customers.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with production experience in Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar back-end tech.
• Experience building AI applications using LLMs, agent frameworks, MCP servers, orchestration frameworks, or evaluation systems.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues across distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, networking, and application code.
• Proven experience shipping production software in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with ownership and execution.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with engineering leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable moving between architecture design, hands-on coding, customer conversations, and technical strategy.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical delivery for strategic customer deployments, from architecture and proof of concept through production rollout.
• Design and implement customer-facing solutions while contributing production-quality code to the core platform.
• Debug complex distributed systems, production incidents, routing behavior, performance bottlenecks, and infrastructure challenges.
• Build reusable integrations, agent capabilities, MCP servers, APIs, and platform extensions that begin as customer solutions and evolve into core product features.
• Serve as the senior technical partner for customer engineering teams, leading architecture discussions, implementation, debugging sessions, and workshops.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Research, Platform, and Engineering to translate customer feedback into product improvements and roadmap priorities.
• Develop tooling, playbooks, deployment patterns, benchmarks, and best practices that enable future deployments to scale.
• Make thoughtful engineering trade-offs between speed, quality, reliability, and customer outcomes in fast-moving environments.

We're looking for a Founding Forward Deployed Engineers to help define how the platform is deployed, adopted, and scaled across strategic customers. This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role that sits at the intersection of software engineering, AI infrastructure, distributed systems, and customer collaboration.

You'll work directly with engineering leadership at enterprise customers while partnering internally with Product, Platform, Research, and Engineering to transform real-world deployment challenges into product capabilities. This is a founding position where your technical decisions, customer feedback, and engineering contributions will directly influence the future of the platform.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Software Engineer, Founding Engineer, or technical founder working directly with enterprise customers.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with production experience in Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar modern backend technologies.
• Experience building, deploying, or integrating AI applications using LLMs, agent frameworks, MCP servers, orchestration frameworks, or evaluation systems.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues across distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, networking, and application code.
• Proven experience shipping production software in ambiguous, fast-paced environments where ownership and execution matter.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both engineering leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable moving between architecture design, hands-on coding, customer conversations, and technical strategy throughout a project lifecycle.

Nice to Have

• Experience with model routing, inference infrastructure, or AI gateway platforms.
• Background building developer tools, platform engineering, or enterprise software.
• Experience working in regulated, air-gapped, or on-premises environments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, observability platforms, CI/CD, and modern SDLC tooling.
• Prior experience building reusable customer integrations that became core product functionality.
