Job summary

Wise Agents is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in Mountain View, CA to work at the intersection of engineering, consulting, product development, and customer success. You will lead discovery sessions, design AI-powered solutions, and guide deployments from pilots through expansion.

Qualifications

• Experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, implementation consulting, technical product management, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Strong understanding of software development, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and modern web applications.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Django, or similar technologies is preferred.
• Experience building or implementing AI products, AI agents, large language model applications, voice agents, workflow automation, or enterprise integrations is highly valuable.
• Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into practical technical requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both engineering teams and nontechnical business stakeholders.
• Experience creating technical proposals, solution scopes, implementation plans, or system documentation.
• Strong project management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving priorities.
• High level of ownership, curiosity, judgment, and attention to detail.
• Professional fluency in English is required.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, business, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery and consulting sessions with prospective and existing customers.
• Understand customer workflows, operational challenges, business requirements, systems, and data environments.
• Identify high-value opportunities for automation and translate them into clear technical solutions.
• Design solution architectures involving AI agents, APIs, databases, enterprise systems, voice systems, and third-party platforms.
• Develop technical scopes, implementation plans, timelines, estimates, and customer proposals.
• Build prototypes, demonstrations, integrations, and early versions of customer solutions.
• Support the development of sandboxes, pilots, and proof-of-concept deployments.
• Collaborate with sales and leadership during customer presentations, technical evaluations, and proposal discussions.
• Coordinate and provide technical direction to internal engineers, external developers, and contractor teams.
• Break customer requirements into clear development tasks, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
• Review technical work and help ensure that solutions are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with customer expectations.
• Manage communication between customers and technical delivery teams throughout the implementation process.
• Troubleshoot implementation challenges and help remove technical or operational blockers.
• Support customer onboarding, testing, training, launch, and post-deployment optimization.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing implementations into additional workflows, departments, or AI capabilities.
• Help improve Wise Agents’ internal development processes, technical documentation, implementation playbooks, and reusable product components.
• Stay current on developments in generative AI, large language models, agentic systems, voice AI, automation, and enterprise software.

About the Role

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who can operate at the intersection of engineering, consulting, product development, and customer success.

In this role, you will work directly with customers to understand their operations, identify opportunities for automation, design AI-powered solutions, and guide those solutions from initial discovery through deployment and expansion.

This is not a traditional software engineering role. You will need to understand both business problems and technical systems, communicate effectively with executives and operational teams, and coordinate internal developers and contractors to deliver successful implementations.
