Impetus is seeking a Forward Deployed Strategist to partner with enterprise clients, functioning like a top-tier consultant while owning outcomes end-to-end. You will be the single thread from the initial client conversation to a system running in production.

This role blends strategic thinking with operator instincts, engaging with C-suite and frontline stakeholders to diagnose challenges and translate them into actionable AI-driven solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience solving complex problems for senior stakeholders in consulting, startups, or operator roles.
• Strong ability to think from first principles and structure ambiguity.
• Excellent stakeholder presence and influence with executives.
• Proven ownership of outcomes from discovery to deployment.

• Willingness to travel 10–20% to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Embed with client leadership to understand workflows and identify AI opportunities.
• Lead discovery engagements: stakeholder interviews, process mapping, problem framing, executive presentations.
• Translate business problems into clear briefs for engineering teams.
• Own client engagements end-to-end from initial talks to deployed solutions.
• Present insights and defend recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Contribute learnings to Impetus playbooks and product evolution.

Role Overview

As a Forward Deployed Strategist at Impetus, you will work closely with enterprise clients - operating much like a top-tier consultant while owning outcomes end-to-end. You will be the single thread from the first client conversation to a system running in production.

This role is designed for individuals who combine strategic thinking with operator instincts. You will engage directly with both C-suite executives and front-line stakeholders to diagnose real business challenges and translate them into actionable solutions.

You won't be writing code - but you will define what needs to be built, why it matters, and ensure it delivers impact.

What You'll Do

• Embed with client leadership and operational teams to deeply understand business workflows and identify high-impact opportunities for AI
• Lead discovery engagements, including stakeholder interviews, process mapping, problem framing, and executive presentations
• Translate ambiguous business problems into clear, structured briefs for engineering teams
• Own client engagements end-to-end - from initial discussions to successful deployment of solutions
• Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, and confidently defend them
• Continuously feed learnings into Impetus' playbooks, frameworks, and product evolution

What We're Looking For

• Proven ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems for senior stakeholders (consulting, startup, or operator background preferred)
• Strong first-principles thinking - you approach problems from the ground up rather than relying only on templates
• Exceptional stakeholder presence - you can engage, challenge, and influence executives effectively
• Operator mindset - you've built, owned, or run something and understand execution realities
• Strong commercial awareness - you understand value creation, client priorities, and engagement success metrics
• AI familiarity - you actively use AI tools, understand their applications, and can define practical implementations
• High ownership - you take full responsibility for outcomes, not just deliverables
• Willingness to travel to client sites (10-20%)

Helpful Experience

• Experience at a top-tier consulting firm, ideally in strategy, digital, or operations
• Track record of managing senior client relationships and leading engagements
• Founder or early-stage startup experience, especially in enterprise-facing roles
• Experience driving transformation or operations initiatives within large enterprises (e.g., finance, strategy, operations)
• Exposure to implementing AI solutions in real business environments

Pay Range:

This offers a very competitive base salary and in addition, we offer a bonus which is dependent on achievement of targets by the role-holder as well as the organization.

The range on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salary target for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and job level and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
